Small to moderate size, 3.0-6.0 mm; body of most species smooth and polished except for carinae on propodeum and basal metasomal terga, mesosoma accasionally acinose; head cubical, clypeus often marginated dorsally by distinct carina, occipital meeting or absent just before hypostomal carina; mesoscutum declivous anteriorly; notauli distinct, smooth or scrobiculate; propodeum usually with distinct median carina and areola; first metasomal tergum with apical width equal to or shorter than length, basal sternal plate length of tergum, dorsope distinct, third tergum often with transverse groove, remainder of terga usually smooth and polished; hind coxa with distinct basal tubercle; fore wing with vein r-m present, first subdiscal cell open at apex, vein cu-a absent although sometimes a dark spot present which makes cell appear closed; hind wing vein M+CU about half length of vein M, vein m-cu usually curved at tip toward wing apex [1].

Several specimens have been collected from French Guiana and are under studies.
