Small to moderate size, 4.5-8.0 mm; oral opening large, diameter usually greater than malar space; fronto-clypeal suture deep and scrobiculate; mandibles excavated at base; occipital carina meeting hypostomal carina; mesoscutum strongly declivous anteriorly, median mesonotal lobe weakly bi-lobed anteriorly; mesosoma entirely smooth; propodeum with distinct areola,often weakly rugose posteriorly; first metasomal tergum shorter than apical width, basal sternal plate 0.25 length of tergum, dorsope deep and distinct; fore tibia with scattered row of 20-30 distinct thin (not stout) spines along anterior edges and with 6-8 thin spines at outer apex; hind coxa with distinct tubercle at base; fore wing vein r-m present, vein r equal to or slightly shorter than vein 3RSa, second submarginal cell short, first subdiscal cell open at apex; hind wing vein M+CU equal to or slightly shorter than vein 1M, veins M+CU, 1M and r-m somewhat thickened [1].

Similar to Johnsonius and Semirhytus but is distinguished by the longer hind wing vein M+CU, the coarsely sculptured face and the thin and numerous spines along anterior edge of fore tibia [1].
