Diagnostic description:
Small to moderate size species, 2-8 mm; body frequently multicolored (brown, red, black, yellow); face swollen; frons depressed with raised ridge between antennae; first flagellomere longer than second; mesoscutum sharply declivous anteriorly; propodeum horizontal, posterior face sharply declivous; first metasomal tergum usually parallel sided with pointed wing-like projections near base, basal sternal plate 0.25 length of tergum; hind coxa with blunt but distinct antero-ventral basal tubercle; hind tibia with comb of dense flat setae at inner apex; fore wing vein r-m present, first subdiscal cell closed, vein 2cu-a present; hind wing vein M+CU 0.33-0.5 length of vein 1M [1].
