Abstract:

A review of the braconids associated with termites in the New World is given. The male of Ypsistocerus manni is described for the first time. Eye measurements of female Ypsistocerus are given which show that the size of the eye is proportional to the size of the fly as measured by the length of episternite . It is for this reason in addition to the correlation of the color to the smaller size that Termitobracon vestigialis is synonymized to T. manni. Observations of the behavior of the wasps indicate that they are not integrated into termite society but they are adapted to nest and its contents.
