It is characterized by the thin, flattened, almost scoop-like mandibles with the ventral margin finely serrated. Also, this genus lacks (or, at best, has poorly defined) spines on anterior edge of fore tibia and the tip of ovipositor does not have a double node [1]. Its placement in Doryctinae remains problematic.

The placement of this genus is problematic since a long time. It was placed in Rhyssalinae (Wharton & van Achterberg, 2000), Exothecinae (Belokobylskij, 2003), and finally Doryctinae (Zaldivar-Riveron et al., 2006).
