Moderate size, 6.5-8.0 mm; body nearly entirely smooth and polished; first flagellomere slightly longer than scape and pedicel combined; occipital carina meeting hypostomal carina; fore wing second submarginal cell long and narrow, vein 2RS tubular but weak or absent at extreme apex near junction with vein 2M; hind wing vein M+CU shorter than vein 1M, vein m-cu straight; hind coxa with weak but distinct basal tubercle; basal sternal plate of first metasomal segment about 3.5 [sic!] times length of tergum [1].

Superficially similar to Doryctes but is distinguished by the vein M+CU being much shorter than vein 1M (longer in Doryctes). It differs also from most other genera which have vein r-m present in fore wing by its nearly complete smooth and polished body, by the long and narrow second submarginal cell of fore wing [1].
