Costa Rican species have been reared from galls on the leaves and trunk of Ficus sp. Further studies are needed but these species are probably inducing galls (Marsh, 2002).
Small size, 1.5-4.0 mm; frons distinctly excavated but not rimed by carina; palpi formula 5+3; fore tibia with scattered row of 10-20 stout spines along inner edge; hind coxa angled at base but without distinct tubercles or tooth; hind femur in male swollen; fore wing vein 2RS absent, vein r very short and often indistinct so that vein 3RSa sometimes appears to arise from stigma, first subdiscal cell open below and at apex, vein 2-1A absent, vein 2cu-a absent or rarely barely visible; hind wing veins cu-a and SC+R absent; basal sternal plate of first metasomal segment about 0.2 length of tergum; dorsope distinct on first metasomal tergum; ovipositor short, often barely extending beyond apex of metasoma [1].

Similar to Heterospilus because of the weak or absent fore wing vein 2RS but is distinguished by the absence of hind wing vein cu-a. It is also distinguished by the palpi formula (usually 6+4 in Braconidae) [1].
