Body size moderate to large (5-18 mm); head quadrate; eyes moderate, not incised near antennal sockets, malar space half eye height; face rugose, raised in middle, without deep grooves below antennal sockets; malar space, temples and vertex smooth; ocelli small, distance from eye to lateral ocellus about twice diameter of lateral ocellus; frons shallowly excavated, with median longitudinal ridge which is raised to a point between antennae; lateral propleural groove strongly scrobiculate and bordered below by carina; notauli distinct, smooth or weakly scrobiculate, meeting posteriorly as several longitudinal carinae; propodeum weakly areolate or entirely smooth; abdominal terga usually smooth, first and second terga sometimes rugose or strigate, second tergum with raised oval area; fore tibia with single row of 5-8 stout spines, hind coxa without dorsal spine, at most with a raised dorsal swelling [1].
