Head cubical; vertex with broad transverse ridge running between median and posterior ocelli, this ridge connected to a low hump adjacent to eye margin; ocellar triangle with base distinctly larger than its sides; eyes glabrous; occipital carina present, reduced ventrally and not fused with hypostomal carina; postgenal bridge wide; palpi formula 6-4; scape wide and very short, without apical lobe; first flagellar segment curved, smooth on outer side, rugose on inner side, equal to or slightly longer than second segment; neck of promesosoma long, distinctly convex dorsally; pronotal keel absent; anterior mesonotum gently curved posteriorly and only slightly raised above pronotum; notauli present and distinct; sternaulus distinct, long, straight; prepectal carina present; propodeum without marginate areas; lateral tubercles and propodeal bridge absent; fore tibia with sparse large spines arranged in single row; hind coxa without basoventral corner and tooth; hind tibia with several thick spines along its dorsal surface; hind basitarsus 0.7 x as long as segments 2-5 combined; fore wing marginal cell not shortened; 2RS and r-m present; 1m-cu postfurcal; 1cu-a interstitial or postfurcal; 3CU interstitial; first subdiscal cell closed before 1m-cu; hind wing cu-a present; subbasal cell very short; m-cu present, sometimes strongly desclerotised, oblique toward base of wing; basal cell narrow apically; RS arising from R; marginal cell without r; in male hind wing with stigma-like enlargement of part of SC+R and with distinct sclerotisations in apical half; first metasomal tergite more or less petiolate, narrow, with weak dorsope; acrosternite 0.4-0.5 x as long as tergite; second suture present and straight, second tergite without furrows or defined areas; ovipositor longer than metasoma .

It is closely related to Sonanus but is distinguished by the absence of U-shaped furrow on second metasomal tergite, the parallel vein interstitial, the mesoscutum which is weakly (or not) raised above pronotum, the hind wing of male with stigma-like enlargement .
